As technology moves faster, so does the culture. As a result, new "generations" are created more frequently. The latest to be formed in the wake of Gen Y is Generation We, according to CNET.
Generation Me - those are connected teens with their own cell phone language - but Generation We is the newest group, a term coined by Iconoculture. Defined as those below the age of 11, members of Generation We are communicating with each other much faster than previous generations, thanks to technologies, like broadband, that are becoming standard in households.

online personality test
You're so wise, personality test. Like an online Buddha covered with ads for online dating services. If you don't get the reference to Anchorman, go watch that movie now.
Seriously, though, most anyone who's ever been bored has taken at least a few multiple choice personality tests online. The most common ones have titles like "Which Harry Potter character are you?", "Which celebrity is your dream girl?" and "What kind of camera are you?" To be honest, I rarely understand how those tests work or what their results are supposed to mean. That last test told me I was a Polaroid camera because I'm "done in 60 seconds and they'll still want it enlarged." I don't get it.
Some tests, however, pretend to be legitimate and might make you believe their results are valid and meaningful. Perhaps the most common type of test you'll find attempting this are spin-offs of the Myers-Briggs test (which will be referred to from here on out as the Bristol-Squibb test). This test breaks your personality up into four categories and then assigns one of two possible traits for each category. The next paragraphs will explain what that means in objective and unbiased terms.

Networking Show Could Teach Hosts
January 11, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Social networking and Internet dating has become one of the biggest sources of Internet traffic, with some social networking sites now among the most trafficked sites on the Web. As such, the social networking business is the source of some significant hosting requirements. What's more, the social networking business is a hotbed of new thinking on how a company's customers can interact with one another - thinking that could have real value in the hosting business.
With Ticonderoga Ventures' 11th annual Internet Dating and Social Networking conference (socialnetworkingconference.com) just around the corner, the media relations representative for the conference and editor of Online Personals Watch (onlinepersonalswatch.com), a news resource and consultant for the social networking industry, Mark Brooks, says Web hosts should make an effort to attend.
Ticonderoga Ventures says the Social Networking Conference focuses on business management for the social networking industry. The goal of the event is to improve individual online business efficiency, identify new technologies for the space and increase Web traffic and conversion rates. This year will take a special focus on advertising and how to make social networking sites more profitable.

Nearly 4 out of 10 People Likely to Reassess Their Dating Life
Valentine's Day is just over a month away but according to new research from Yahoo! Personals, the most visited online dating service(a), Cupid is charting a tricky course for the next few weeks.
The study shows we are now in National Break-Up Season, the period between the December holidays and Valentine's Day when people are more than twice as likely to think about breaking up than at any other time of the year.
January, with all its focus on resolutions to be healthier, richer, and happier, naturally leads couples to take stock of their relationships and think about whether they are with the right person.

Pew on Social Networks: 7 out of 10 teens have non-public profiles
The Pew Internet and American Life Project released data from their recent survey of teen Social Networks
In the study, it is reported that 77% of teens have a profile available online, but 59% of teens restrict these profiles to their friends. This means that only 3 out of 10 teens have a profile that is "open" to be viewed online.
The report includes some valuable summary statistics, including the following I found interesting:
55% of online teens have created a personal profile online, and 55% have used social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook.
37% of 12 and 13 year olds have SNS profiles.
Seven out of ten (70%) online girls 15-17 have created a profile, compared with 57% of older boys.
Almost half of social network-using teens visit the sites either once a day (26%) or several times a day (22%).
Interesting remarks about this report:

1 in 4 Singles Say 'Little White Lies' Are Acceptable When Dating Online
Engage.com Research Reveals What's Okay (and Not) in Modern Dating
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Singles starting the New Year with the resolve to find love may have to be wary of the false-hearted. One quarter of singles believe it's acceptable to tell a little white lie when dating online, according to a recent survey by Engage.com (http://www.engage.com/), the Internet's first online relationship site where singles connect naturally by inviting their community of family and friends to Play Matchmaker(TM) for them. The Engage.com "Manners and Behavior" survey of more than 600 single adults shows that 24 percent of respondents believe it's all right to lie when dating online; more men than women (30 percent versus 19 percent) of the total respondents think untruths are suitable.
According to survey respondents, income (21 percent) is the chief topic that singles say it's ok to tell a little white lie about in an online dating profile, followed by weight/body type (16 percent); and age (14 percent). The stated desire for a relationship and height was equally cited by 12 percent of singles.

Dating again. It’s frightening. It’s unpredictable. Somehow if you’re single, you’re drawn to it….then you look in the mirror and wonder: Should I? Can I? Do I dare?
If you’re single again, you’re certainly not alone. Although it can feel very isolating and alone, half of American adults are single!
